History of BARIT

Bangladesh Association of Radiology & Imaging Technologists (BARIT) was founded at 2006 considering the limited professional education, uncontrolled professional practice and inadequate professional development. We were discussing about our professional crisis, and find out the ways to overcome the crisis. Some of our most senior and respected Radiology & Imaging Technologist proposed that a professional society can do
the job smoothly. One of our most senior technologist Mr. Shafiqul Islam proposed and requested to organize a professional society to solve our professional problems and develop educational and professional practice in Bangladesh. However, Mr. Shamsuzzman, Mr. Shamsuzzoha along with Mr. Shafiqul Islam of BIRDEM, Mr. Kamal Uddin of DMCH and Mr. Ehsan of BSMMU, Mr. Mojibur Rahman of IHT Dhaka and Mr. Mofazzal Hossain of ICDDRB
were the front liner founder of the Society. The first president of the society was Md. Kamal Uddin, first Secretary general of the society was Md. Mofazzal Hossain and first organizing secretary was Mr. Jahirul Islam Bhuiyan. Bangladesh Association of Radiology & Imaging Technologists (BARIT) has been achieved the membership of ISRRT at 2007 with the active support of IART and RSN. From the very beginning of the society BARIT was started on professional skill development by organizing training program, workshop and seminar. For the first time RCO training was organized by BARIT under the Technical support of BAEC and financial support of WHO. After that a lot of training program organized by BARIT under the technical and financial support of WHO. ISRRT also supported us to organize training program on CR & DR with their financial support. BSc. in Radiology and Imaging Technology course was first time started under Dhaka University by the technical and financial support of BARIT along with developing course curriculum. BSc. (Hons) course also started at BUHS by the technical support of BARIT. Three significant seminars were organized by BARIT from 2006-20012. That was the land mark of the society. BARIT was successfully completed first six years with glorious activities and continuous dynamic leadership. For the government service holders’ multiple activities was taken. One of the most important activities was the approval of selection grade for the government service holders from the Ministry of Establishment. However, regarding that BARIT was established as a famous and most
populous professional organization in Bangladesh.
